Thwarting Plant Machinery Theft

Thwarting Machinery Theft

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) have dealt a significant blow to plant machinery theft in the region. The police intercepted three vehicles transporting suspected stolen machinery on the motorway network. This swift action led to the arrest of two offenders after a brief foot chase and the recovery of stolen items, including a small dumper truck, valued at over £70,000.

Impact of Plant Machinery Theft

PC Phil Raymond, a member of GMP’s Roads Policing Unit, shed light on the detrimental consequences of plant machinery theft, stating, “Plant machinery theft has far-reaching effects, not only impacting the owners but also those who rely on rented machinery for their work. It goes beyond inconvenience, causing financial burdens to the public and the economy as a whole.”

The recent operations, resulting in five arrests, the recovery of three stolen vehicles, and the retrieval of numerous pieces of plant machinery within a short timeframe, have dealt a significant blow to this Organised Crime Group, showcasing the unwavering commitment of GMP to safeguarding the community.

Stepping Up the Fight

The success achieved by GMP in this operation demonstrates the effectiveness of proactive policing and strategic interventions. By remaining vigilant and employing tactical pursuit methods, officers were able to disrupt the criminal operation, preventing further loss and damage.

A Stronger Defense

The success achieved in dismantling this Organised Crime Group would not have been possible without the coordinated efforts of GMP’s Roads Policing Unit and their commitment to collaborative action. By working closely with partners and stakeholders, GMP is strengthening the collective defense against plant machinery theft.
