BIM: Wavin’s Plumbing Revolution
Wavin UK is harnessing the power of Building Information Modeling (BIM) to revolutionize the plumbing industry. BIMplus recently sat down with Adam Salt, BIM coordinator at Wavin UK, to discuss how this renowned plumbing product manufacturer is embracing BIM technology.
Wavin’s BIM Journey
Adam Salt explains, “We’ve long recognized the value of BIM in centralizing project plans and facilitating seamless collaboration between different trades and project stages.” Since around 2015, Wavin has heavily invested in BIM to ensure seamless integration of their products within the technology.
Enhancing User Experience
Salt emphasizes that Wavin’s approach allows their BIM team to become experts not only in Wavin’s product portfolio but also in how their products are realized within the Autodesk platform. This expertise extends beyond digital twins to encompass the broader BIM architecture and Wavin’s portfolio within it.
Navigating Challenges
While Wavin has made significant progress in above-ground plumbing integration, they face challenges in making digital twins available for their below-ground portfolio. Unlike the widely used Revit software for above-ground work, below-ground projects lack a universally adopted BIM architecture.
