“Civil Engineering Firm Kilmac Reports Pre-Tax Profits of £1.31 Million Amid Expansion and Employee Ownership Transition”
Dundee-based civil engineering company, Kilmac, has reported pre-tax profits of £1.31 million, with a record turnover of £25.65 million in the year ending September 2022. Despite a slight drop in operating profit due to material shortages and increasing costs, the company has seen a 35% increase in revenues.
Kilmac, founded by Athole McDonald and Richard Kilcullen in 2004, transitioned to an Employee Ownership Trust in January last year, ensuring continuity and rewarding its dedicated workforce. The company also expanded beyond its traditional Tayside and Fife heartlands, opening a satellite office in Mid Calder, West Lothian.
The firm, which employs a 160-strong workforce, handles a wide range of civil engineering projects and acts as a leading groundworks subcontractor for commercial and social infrastructure and housing projects throughout Scotland. Kilmac is also building a reputation as a specialist in the fast-growing Passivhaus sector, which is anticipated to offer scope for further growth.
